Artistic Directions
CORNER OF THE SKY
Everything has its season Everything has its time Show me a reason and I’ll soon show you a rhyme
After closing It Shoulda Been You with mad Theatre of Tampa in July 2018, I took a break from the director’s chair. I continued in my board role of Vice-President and volunteered with several productions. But by November of 2019, something had to give and I stepped away from the theatre completely to focus on my family, my new house and my job.
Every man has his daydreams
Every man has his goal
People like the way dreams have
Of sticking to the soul
Fast forward to the present. With Assassins and The Toxic Avenger postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Board of Directors decided to take the time to look within the organization to reorganize, identify growth opportunities, and set goals to position mad Theatre of Tampa for the future. This included my return to the organization as Artistic Director after a 9 month break. Since July, the Board of Directors and I have been working together to make the necessary changes to prepare for our return to the stage.
Rivers belong where they can ramble
Eagles belong where they can fly
While we, as an organization, are not ready to return physically to the stage, I am excited to announce that we will begin workshopping The Goldilocks Variations, an original musical by Steven Wolf & Charles Baker. I will be joined by Mitchell Samuelson as our music director. Together we will utilize online platforms to workshop this classic tale of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. But in our version, the story has been turned on its head when being told from the perspective of each character in the story. Stay tuned to learn more about the cast and creators and how you can join us through this journey of seeing this musical come to life off the page.
I’ve got to be where my spirit can run free
Got to find my corner of the sky
