Both the original 1992 production and 2016 revival were directed by James Lapine. Falsettos pairs March of the Falsettos and Falsettoland, two acclaimed Off-Broadway musicals written nearly a decade apart. Falsettos tells the story of a gay man named Marvin who leaves his wife Trina and son Jason, to be with his lover named Whizzer. With the help of their family psychiatrist, Mendel and their neighbors Charlotte and Cordelia, the family learns to grow up and face the future in the 70’s and 80’s through the early days of the AIDS crisis.  

mad Theatre of Tampa’s production of Falsettos is directed by Anthony Paul Gilkinson with music direction by Megan Zeitler and stage management by Nicole Petta.
